Security is a key concept in development literature and an important variable in achieving sustainable development. By establishing security, the sense of security improves and the desirability of individuals increases, ultimately leading to greater well-being. Khuzestan Province is one of the provinces that has suffered from insecurity for many years, and the number of various crimes in this province is increasing. From an economic perspective, human migration and capital outflow from the province are also increasing every year, which may be one of the reasons for the feeling of insecurity in this province. On the other hand, the police force suffers from a lack of budgets and facilities in the field of security, which is due to the lack of transparency in the value of the services of this force in establishing security and, as a result, the lack of budget allocation commensurate with the value of its services. The present study attempted to extract the economic value of the sense of security in Khuzestan Province as one of the services of the police force. For this purpose, three main components of the sense of financial, physical, and moral security were valued. The method used was selection modeling and the data were collected in March 1403. The annual value (flow) obtained was 122 trillion Tomans and its capital value was 2596 trillion Tomans. Also, in order to compare clean and crime-ridden counties, the annual value of the sense of security was obtained for these two groups of counties separately. The large numbers obtained indicate the support of the citizens of the province for any program that improves the sense of security in this province. In addition, the numbers obtained can be a criterion for allocating the budget across the province based on performance.
